I am the mother of three beautiful children, aged thirteen, eight and one. I’ve experienced, first hand, the highs and lows of being a mother. I know how hard, confusing and tiring parenting can be, especially in the early days of uncertainty!
It has gone extremely quickly, and sometimes I cannot believe it, but I now have more than 23 years of mothercraft experience.
After training as an enrolled nurse, I trained as a mothercraft nurse at Karitane, Sydney. I then experienced working as a nanny for a number of years before becoming a part of the Tresillian residential care team.
I have travelled extensively throughout the UK, Europe and America, working as an in-home maternity nurse, supporting, assisting and educating new parents in newborn care, breast and bottle feeding, sleep, settling and routine establishment.
Upon returning to Australia, I established my own mothercraft home visiting service enabling me to develop further my successful feeding, sleeping and settling techniques.
It was during this time I self published “Maternal Matters”, a comprehensive guide to the first 12 months of parenting. I am very proud to say that this book has assisted hundreds of families, both here and abroad, with the establishment of healthy, workable routines for their babies.
My experience covers the full range of parental issues including:
- Newborn care.
- Developmental milestones.
- Unsettled babies.
- Fussy feeders.
- Sleeping issues.
- Twins and triplets
- Postnatal depression.
- Tired and anxious parents.
I have answered live online forums, written articles for popular parenting magazines and websites and appeared on television talking about parenting issues.
Throughout my career, my passion has always been supporting and educating new parents; however my biggest achievement to date was definitely becoming a mother myself. It has shown me how immensely rewarding, proud and complete one can feel.
